Here are some suggestions on ways you can help increase awareness about the problems caused by plastic litter.

  1. Share the Problems and the Kids sections on this site with your own kids, and grandkids.  You will see their concern for animals instantly grow.

  2. Read “Sullie Saves the Seas”, to your own kids, or grandkids, and their friends. They will laugh learn and love Sullie`s schemes as he educates humans about plastic litter. Sullie`s adventures are available as a “story only” version (www.amazon.com), as well as in a Story Coloring book (www.amazon.com).

  3. Say “No” to disposable plastic items such as plastic water bottles, one-time plastic shopping bags, plastic cutlery, plastic "glasses", drinking straws and especially Styrofoam takeaways. Ask for aluminum foil or, better still, bring your own reusable container.

  4. Purchase “reusables” (stainless steel water bottles, reusable containers for takeaways, reusable shopping bags). Proudly tell the check-out clerk “No Thank You, I brought my own bags”. (www.reuseit.com, www.plasticpollutioncoalition.org, www.lifewithoutplastic.com)

  5. Remember to keep reusable bags in your car at all times. (Make the kids your “memory team” to remind you to always bring your reusable shopping bags and reusable water bottles.)

  6. Dispose of all litter carefully. Reuse, Recycle, and best of all REFUSE plastic.

  7. Learn about other organizations that are concerned with our oceans at Related Links.  California has already banned plastic bags and cities such as Portland OR, and Isle of Palms SC, have also banned plastic bags. For updates on plastic bag bans, and plastic bag taxes, go to www.plasticpollutioncoalition.org.
